Understanding Your Tattoo Removal Options

Ideally, your tattoos should be a point of pride that you love to show off to the world. However, not every tattoo may live up to your expectations or align with your current values, beliefs, and passions. While you may think that you will be forced to try to hide that old tattoo for the rest of your life, that is simply not the case.

Over the last few years, laser tattoo removal technologies have advanced by leaps and bounds. Modern laser treatments are faster, more effective, and far more comfortable than they once were.

At Laser Skin Solutions Jacksonville, we have helped countless clients permanently close previous chapters of their lives by providing expert tattoo removal services.

With the assistance of our laser treatment services, you may be able to get rid of unwanted tattoos for good. Then you can relax and enjoy yourself in beautiful Jacksonville Beach, FL, without fear that someone will catch a glimpse of your old tattoo.

Is Laser Tattoo Removal Effective?

Yes, laser tattoo removal is highly effective for many clients. However, it is important to note that individual results will vary based on several important factors, which we will discuss in greater detail below.

Laser tattoo removal works by breaking up ink particles in your skin. Once it breaks up these particles, your body is able to eliminate them. This process causes the tattoo to fade into obscurity.

While you will notice the tattoo fade after the very first session, it may take anywhere from six to twelve treatments to achieve your desired results. Typically, you will need to wait about six to eight weeks between sessions. This will give your body time to heal and eliminate the broken-up ink particles.

Our Laser Treatment Systems

A Laser Skin Solutions Jacksonville, we understand that every patient is unique. That is why we leverage several different laser treatment systems in our Jacksonville Beach, FL, clinic. We assess every patient’s case in order to determine which laser treatment solution is right for them.

Currently, we offer the following four different laser treatment options:

Alex TriVantage

The Alex TriVantage is a dual-wavelength Q-switched laser that is effective on all skin tones and types. It is one of our most versatile lasers and allows for condensed treatment sessions. The Alex TriVantage is ideal for treating multicolored tattoos.

Traditional Q-Switched Laser

Generally, our team recommends this laser for patients who have large, dark tattoos. The traditional Q-switched laser is excellent at breaking down large swathes of dark ink that may not respond to other tattoo removal treatments.

PicoSure

The PicoSure emits laser pulses in picoseconds, hence the name. A picosecond is one-trillionth of a second. This rapid pulse rate minimizes discomfort while still providing effective tattoo removal. PicoSure is most effective when used on tattoos that are packed with blues and greens.

Enlighten

Laser Skin Solutions Jacksonville was the first Florida practice to obtain the Enlighten laser system. Enlighten is a second-generation picosecond laser that offers advancements such as dual pulse durations and dual wavelengths. As a result, it can take on all colors and shades of tattoo inks in less time than the Q-switched laser.

Factors That May Impact Your Results

Now that you know what tools we have at our disposal, it is important to understand the various factors that could impact how many treatment sessions you will need. These factors include:

  • Your health and age
  • Preexisting scarring
  • Ink density
  • Ink depth
  • Ink colors
  • Age of the tattoo
  • Tattoo location
  • Tattoo size

The Laser Skin Solutions team will account for these factors when estimating how many treatment sessions you will need. However, our team may need to alter this adjustment after beginning treatment.

One reason that this may be necessary is that every patient will heal at a different rate. If your body is healing more slowly than anticipated and is not effectively eliminating the broken-down ink, additional sessions may be needed.

With that being said, the Laser Skin Solutions Jacksonville staff have removed many different types of tattoos with our cutting-edge methods. We have successfully removed amateur tattoos, cosmetic tattoos, medical tattoos, and even eyelid tattoos.

How Long Does Laser Tattoo Removal Take?

The exact number of sessions you will need varies depending on the abovementioned factors. Generally, professional tattoos require the most sessions. Most clients with professional tattoos will need somewhere between 8 and 15 sessions to achieve the best results.

On the other hand, cosmetic tattoos and “stick and poke” tattoos can sometimes be removed in as few as one or two sessions.

Like the number of sessions, session length will also vary from patient to patient. Removal sessions for small tattoos may only last 10-15 minutes. However, larger tattoos may need to be treated for an hour or more during each session.

Is Tattoo Removal Expensive?

The exact cost of tattoo removal will depend on the number of sessions needed and the duration of each session. The color of the tattoo will also impact the total cost of the removal.

To obtain an accurate cost for removing your unwanted tattoo, you will need to book a consultation with the Laser Skin Solutions Jacksonville team. We will assess your ink and provide you with an estimate on laser tattoo removal services.
