What is Laser Genesis?
The GenesisPlus is a new laser created for the safe and effective treatment of onychomycosis, or toenail fungus. Unlike many other treatment options, Genesis targets the fungus directly – at the root of the problem. This makes treatment faster, more effective, and less frustrating for patients with long-term problems. We’re proud to announce that our Jacksonville nail fungus treatment is one of the most patient-friendly options available.
How does a laser treat nail fungus in Jacksonville?
The GenesisPlus passes minuscule, brief pulses of light through the problem toenail. This allows us to treat the fungus underneath, without an invasive procedure. The fungus is irradiated, and the surrounding nail and skin are left undamaged.
How long does laser fungus treatment take?
We want to see your fungus gone for good. That’s why Dr. Lezaic will treat all toes on both feet. This will help keep the fungus from migrating or managing to maintain a hold on your skin. The entire laser procedure will take between 15-30 minutes.
Will I feel pain during treatment?
Most patients experience a gentle warming during the procedure. There won’t be any pain medication needed. Patients find treatment quite tolerable and highly rewarding.
After treatment, you will be able to resume normal activities at once. We will provide you with Prevention Guidelines to follow for ideal results. By adhering to our tips, you’ll see your fungus clearing as quickly and thoroughly as possible.
How many treatment sessions will be needed?
Most patients need up to 4 treatments initially, but some need more if they have severe cases of toenail fungus.
How soon will I see results?
The tricky part of nail fungus is that the nail will need to grow out in order for the visual effects to fade. As you know, nail growth takes some time – and nail fungus can inhibit growth speed. It may take anywhere from 6 months to 12 months for your toenail to clear completely.
Will the nail fungus return?
You will need to stay on the offensive to keep fungus at bay. The same type of infection can return if your toes are exposed to a similar environment, especially any kind of damp, populated area (like a public swimming pool). Medical conditions like diabetes and vascular disease can increase the risk of reinfection.
We will let you know what to watch out for, and help you keep fungus from becoming a recurring problem.
When can I apply nail polish?
Good news – you can apply nail polish to hide the fungus as soon as 24 hours after treatment. Simply remove it before your next session.
Why is Genesis preferable to other Jacksonville toenail fungus treatments?
Standard treatment options like nail trimming, topical ointments, oral medicine, or total nail removal have their individual, unique drawbacks. Some don’t actually treat the fungus, just attempt to remove the side effects. Others need to be applied for many months, and offer low success rates. Oral medication can even lead to collateral damage like kidney or liver problems.
Laser Genesis is a quick, comfortable, and simple procedure that treats the fungus immediately. You simply need to schedule a few appointments, and then wait for the nail to grow out. Laser treatment of nail fungus has shown a success rate of about 88%.
Is toenail fungus treatment covered by insurance?
At this time, laser fungus treatment is not covered by health insurance plans. Because insurance providers consider this an aesthetic procedure, they do not offer coverage. We try to offset this with some patient considerations. Our initial foot consultation is complimentary.
If you have a Health Savings Account (HSA), medical Individual Retirement Account (Medical IRA) or other medical Flexible Spending Accounts (Medical FSA), you can pay for the procedure with the allocated funds. Otherwise, payment can be made with cash, credit, debit card or care credit.
