Q-Switched Laser Tattoo Removal

Our attention to varied tattoo types and patient needs makes LSS Jacksonville one of the preeminent tattoo removal centers in northern Florida. In addition to treatment with the PicoSure Laser, we offer treatment with a Q-switched tattoo removal laser. This allows us to accommodate many different patients with varying tattoo inks and skin types.

Laser tattoo removal has brought the field into an entirely new realm of target results and patient comfort. Earlier methods of tattoo removal employed dermabrasion, salabrasion, surgery, and C02 lasers, but these procedures left patients wanting. The treated skin was often left lightened or scarred, and the experience unpleasant for the patient. When you’re having a tattoo removed, you don’t want to see unappealing skin switched out for ink. After all, isn’t that just as noticeable?

With the advent of the Q-switched laser, everything was changed. Tattoos can be removed with several treatments, and inks ranging from black to lighter-colored will be removed. With the Q-switched laser, darker inks are more effectively handled, while we will likely recommend the PicoSure for green or blue inks. You don’t have to worry about the removal process marring your skin. You’ll simply see clearer, natural-looking skin in the tattoo’s place.

What is Q-switched laser tattoo removal like?

Laser Skin Solutions employs the R20 tattoo removal method, which helps get rid of your ink as quickly (and completely) as possible. We complete four passes over the tattoo in a single session, with a 20-minute rest between sessions. While single sessions are longer, this means that you’re able to complete the removal process in fewer sessions overall, and get back to tattoo-free life as soon as possible.

How many treatment sessions will it take to see results, and to remove my tattoo completely?

In order for your ink to fade, your body needs to naturally process the ink particles. This takes time, and some patience. That said, once the process is complete, you’ll see clear skin – and a big smile on your face.

Professional tattoos can take 6-12 treatments to properly remove, while homemade tattoos can require only 3-4 treatments. Treatments are typically spaced 4-8 weeks apart.

Will my tattoo disappear entirely?

Total removal of a tattoo is always our goal. But it’s important to know that there are over 100 tattoo inks currently in use, and they are unregulated by the FDA. Since we don’t know how much ink or which type of ink was used, or how deep the tattoo is, it is difficult to predict how thorough the removal will be. No matter your tattoo, we’ll do whatever we can to minimize its appearance, and remove its ink. With Dr. Jill Lezaic’s skill, and the tattoo removal laser’s capabilities, the outlook is very good for your tattoo’s removal. Even if there are traces left behind, laser removal will lower the tattoo’s visibility, and prevent it from defining you.

If you have primarily dark inks, a Q-switched laser could be most effective. But if your tattoo has colored or light inks, the Picosure will prove invaluable. We also offer the Enlighten laser to round out your tattoo removal options. We will personalize treatment depending on your tattoo type, tattoo size, and skin type, resulting in the most effective possible ink removal.
